Four years ago today, the premature disappearance of the famous Qawwal Amjad Sabri shocked fans and the musical fraternity alike. Sabri was known for his craft, which ruled over hearts and minds.

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the death of Sabri, who gained world fame in the Qawwali camp. The singer embraced martyrdom on June 22, 2016, in an objective murder incident.

Fans turned to Twitter to remember the teacher and shared heartfelt messages for the late singer.
Actor Zhalay Sarhadi said: “He was one of the sweetest people with the strongest and most powerful voice. Amjad Sabri, you will remain forever in our hearts! Remembering you on your fourth anniversary of death.

Another user shared: “Today is the fourth anniversary of the death of Amjad Sabri, the last of the great Qawwals. Sufis, Sufi poetry, Sufi shrines, and Qawwali have always carried the torch of a more peaceful Islam that taught tolerance. "

The teacher who was Sabri:

Sabri, born to a well-known Qawwali family in Karachi in 1976, inherited a passion for Qawwali. He received his initial Qawwalis training from his father, Ghulam Farid Sabri, and his older brother, Azmat Sabri, alias Ajo Bhai.

After completing his technical education and training, he demonstrated his skills in the Qawwali camp in a way rarely seen. He had performed in more than 17 countries, including India, Nepal, the United States, and London.

Sabri emerged in a different style after the death of his father, Ghulam Fareed Sabri. He entered the field reciting the same words that had given his father and uncle fame. He gained immense fame in the Qawwali camp in the times to come.

Veteran Qawwal succumbed to serious injuries when terrorists attacked and shot him on June 22, 2016, at a distance from his home in Liaquatabad. Qawwali's story would be incomplete without mention of him.
