TREASURE To Perform Debut Track 'BOY' On Inkigayo On August 9

YG

The stage is set for the debut of YG's new boy group TREASURE. YG Entertainment announced that the 12-member idol group will officially debut on August 7 and have their debut stage on Inkigayo two days later.

According to a report from All Kpop, TREASURE's long-awaited debut will finally happen after two years of waiting. They will be performing their debut song BOY on SBS Inkigayo on August 9.

YG announced the presentation of TREASURE for Show! Music Core on August 8 was canceled, but it did not reveal details about the reason for the cancellation.

In the lead up to TREASURE's debut, YG has already released teaser images for all 12 members, as well as a motion video for their title track BOY.

Fans have long been waiting for TREASURE's debut after the members were selected from an idol survival variety show titled YG Treasure Box, which ran from 2018 to 2019.

YG's boy group would initially be called TREASURE 13 and would debut with 13 members. However, one of the members, Yoonbin, left the group before debuting due to creative differences with YG Entertainment.

Along with Yoonbin's departure, YG also dropped the idea of forming two sub-units under TREASURE, which were Treasure and Magnum. This now means that the remaining members Yedam, Haruto, Doyoung, Hyunsuk, Jihyun, Junghwan, Jungwoo, Yoshinori, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk, and Asahi will be promoted as a single unit.

Fans are also intrigued by the unique concept of TREASURE that will have two leaders: Choi Hyunsuk and Park Jihoon.

TREASURE's debut album, due out on August 8, aptly titled The First Step: Chapter One will only have two tracks. The first track is BOY, with lyrics by Se.A, Choice 37, Choi Hyun Suk, and Haruto. The song is composed by Choice37, HAE, Se.A, and R.Tee, who also arranged the track.

The second track comes to Me, a song written and arranged by Rovin with the help of Kim Kyung, BIG TONE, Choi Hyun Suk, Yoshi, and Haruto.

TREASURE's debut is expected to build on YG's recent push from BLACKPINK's powerful comeback series that began with How You Like That. It can be recalled that following BLACKPINK's comeback, YG's shares soared 93 percent from their prices in the first quarter of the year. BLACKPINK's second comeback prior to release is expected to drop this month and is rumored to feature American pop star Selena Gomez, the Korea Herald reported.
