PCB mulls sending close to 45 players for New Zealand tour

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to send about 45 players to the upcoming New Zealand tour in late November, The News reported on Friday.

Sources told the publication that Pakistan's 'A' team players will also be part of the upgraded team, as there are also four-day games on the tour.

“More players will be on both teams due to strict COVID-19 regulations and protocols in New Zealand and players and officials, after arriving early, will have to spend 14 days in quarantine and enter a biosecurity bubble before to start. their parties, ”said the source.

Previously, the men's cricket team had spent about a month in isolation and quarantine training camps before playing the Test series against England.

The greater number of players attending the circuit is expected to affect the quality of national tournaments.

"The problem is that due to the COVID-19 situation, if so many top-tier players are sent to New Zealand, the quality of national competitions will be greatly affected," added the source.

The source added that the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches are scheduled soon, but the PCB is eager to send team 'A' to New Zealand to expose them.

It should be noted that the men in green are scheduled to play two Tests and three T20Is against New Zealand in December.
