'This virus is no joke': Sania Mirza reveals she suffered COVID-19

  • Mirza says she had no major symptoms at all
  • She says the most terrifying feelings was being away from family
  • Highlights the need to follow COVID-19 precautions

Tennis star Sania Mirza revealed on Monday that she had contracted COVID-19 in early 2021.

The tennis star, in a post on Instagram, said that she had contracted COVID-19. However, she is now "healthy and absolutely fine."

Sharing her experience during the COVID-19 period, she said: "I was lucky that I didn't have any major symptoms for the most part, but I was isolated and the hardest part was staying away from my 2-year-old son. And family."

The tennis star said that she couldn't even imagine what her people and families were going through when her loved ones were sick, in the hospital, alone and alone.

"It was scary because you're not quite sure what to expect and you hear so many different things and stories ... You have a new symptom every day, and the uncertainty is extremely difficult to handle not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well," he said.

In addition, he said that he was lucky to be "more or less well" throughout the entire process; however, being away from her family was the most terrifying thing for her: not knowing when she might see them again.

Emphasizing that the virus was not a joke, she said that she had contracted it despite taking all the precautions that she could.

"We must do everything we can to protect our friends and family, [...] wear your masks, wash your hands and protect yourself and your loved ones," she said.

"We are in this fight together," Mirza added.
