ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country on Thursday soared to 11,145 after 742 new infections were reported during the past 24 hours.
According to National Command and Operation Centre 2,337 patients have recovered from the disease in the country while 15 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll currently stands at 232. Punjab reported 4,706 cases, Sindh 3, 671, Balochistan 607, KP 1,541, Islamabad 204, GB 300, AJK 55 cases
As many as 58 corona patients are in critical condition while 5, 637 tests conducted in the past 24 hours according to the statistics released by the national dashboard.
Currently 7,952 patients are being treated at various hospitals and quarantine facilities across the country. In the last 24 hours overall 6,700 tests were conducted across the country while the total number of the coronavirus tests now stands at 1,24,549.
Meanwhile, three more died of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday as 86 more people tested positive for the virus in the province. It brought the total number of confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to 1,435. The three patients, who died belonged to Mardan, Swabi, and Charsadda. With 83 fatalities, KP is still ahead of all other provinces in terms of human losses caused by a coronavirus.
In Peshawar so far proved to be the most affected place. Only on Wednesday, out of 86 total positive cases, Peshawar, alone reported 40 cases. Peshawar has so far recorded 411 confirmed positive cases.
Peshawar Division that comprises Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber and Mohmand tribal districts, with 524 confirmed positive cases, is ahead of other divisions in KP.
Nowshera has reported 38 cases, Charsadda 35, Khyber 14, and Mohmand six cases. After the Peshawar division, the Malakand division with 379 confirmed positive cases is the second division affected the most by the coronavirus in KP.
And in Malakand Division, Swat with 113 positive cases is ahead of other districts, followed by Buner with 82 cases, Dir Upper 73, Malakand district 45, Dir Lower 26, Shangla 23, Bajaur 13, and Chitral Lower three cases.
