ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister's special assistant to Pakistanis overseas, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari, said on Saturday that once the coronavirus pandemic subsides, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will give preference to Pakistanis in terms of employment opportunities.
The Ministry for Overseas Pakistanis said in a statement that UAE officials have given Bukhari a guarantee in this regard.
Citing Bukhari, the statement said the Pakistani government and UAE officials will guarantee the rights of Pakistanis working in the Gulf country.
Bukhari also held a meeting with the Pakistani business community in Dubai.
He praised the diaspora for providing aid for the repatriation of stranded citizens since the start of the pandemic and subsequent blockades.
On the occasion, SAPM also distributed certificates to notable members present at the event. SAPM also praised Pakistani diplomats for assisting workers during the pandemic.
