ISLAMABAD - The Government of Pakistan decided to reimburse the amount to all Hajj pilgrims with the intention that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) would announce a "Limited Hajj" due to the COVId-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued in Islamabad, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, said that the refund procedure will start soon.
Future pilgrims will be informed by SMS after completing the necessary procedure.
Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri also welcomed the decision made by the Saudi government to carry out Hajj on a limited scale this year.
He said that this decision has been made in accordance with Shariah taking into account the current situation.
Previously, Saudi Arabia had announced that it would not allow international pilgrims to perform Hajj this year (2020) due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet, the Hajj Ministry said in a statement that the decision has been made to ensure that Hajj is carried out safely from a public health perspective while observing all necessary preventive measures and social distancing protocols.
